Michael van der Mark has ended the first day of World Supersport Championship action in Jerez on top of the timesheets as warm conditions prevented any leading rider to improve on their lap time.
With scorching conditions in Spain, only one rider inside the top ten would improve on their FP1 effort, with van der Mark staying top of the combined timesheets by half-a-second from Kenan Sofuoglu, the Turk racing in San Carlo Puccetti colours for the first time this weekend.
van der Mark was quickest in the session itself, but was a full eight tenths slower than his FP1 effort, while Lorenzo Zanetti completed a PATA Honda 1-2.
Kev Coghlan remains third as the only other rider to break 1min 45secs, with Florian Marino, Zanetti, PJ Jacobsen and Jack Kennedy static in fourth to seventh respectively. The only improvement inside the top ten would come from Jules Cluzel who rose ahead of Roberto Tamburini, with Roberto Rolfo completing the top ten.
Outside the top ten, Alessandro Nocco and Ratthapark Wilairot made notable strides in 11th and 12th, the duo bouncing back after failing to set a lap time in the morning.
