The returning Lucas Mahias has ended the first day of World Supersport Championship action in Qatar at the top of the timesheets.

Having returned to World Supersport action last time out in Magny Cours - his first WSS appearance since the Intermoto Kawasaki team he started the year with folded -, Mahias was again in fine form around the floodlit Losail circuit to go quickest in both sessions.

Riding the MG Yamaha YZF-R6, Mahias ended the first day a tenth up on newly crowned champion Kenan Sofuoglu, with Kyle Smith completing the top three for the PATA Honda team.
