Lorenzo Savadori has given his FIM Superstock 1000 Cup title hopes a boost after claiming a dominant victory in a red flag halted race at Misano.

Keen to regain ground in the overall standings after failing to finish last time out at Imola, Savadori got an excellent start from pole position and powered into a lead he would maintain to the end when the race was called off after 10 of 15 laps.

Federico Sandi was the cause of the red flag after the Italian – making his return to SSTK 1000 action – crashed his Motoracing BMW heavily at turn five and was stricken at the edge of the track. An unfortunate exit for Sandi, the Italian was seemingly on course for a second place finish.

His exit allowed Leandro Mercado to assume a second place finish, the championship leader extending his advantage at the head of the standings to 14 points over Savadori and Ondrej Jezek tied in second.

Fabio Massei completed the podium on his EAB Ducati, holding off Jezek, while David McFadden put in his best performance of the season in fifth place aboard the MRS Kawasaki.

Federico D'Annunzio upheld BMW honours in sixth following Sandi's demise, ahead of Romain Lanusse, Matthieu Lussiana, Kevin Valk and Kyle Smith.
