N.Technology aim to benefit from home knowledge

N.Technology will hope to benefit from the addition of Yukinori Taniguchi to its line-up as the World Touring Car Championship heads to Okayama for the first time this weekend.

The Japanese racer made his debut in the WTCC alongside James Thompson last time out at Monza, which marked the first time the N.Technology squad had run its second Honda Accord Euro R.

Although Taniguchi struggled for pace in the final European race of the year, he arrives at Okayama with plenty of experience of the circuit and will aim to make the most of his knowledge to try and break into the points.

"Racing in Monza was really great," he said. "Our expectations were for the team and I to get to know each other and find the best way of working together, whilst getting accustomed to the car and of course, seeing how James got the best out of it.

"Now we are going to my home track in Okayama, a circuit I know very well, and I hope to help the team with that knowledge as much as possible. I also look forward to putting in a competitive performance; I have really enjoyed working with the team and the car and hope to produce some good results!"

Team manager Andrea Muller said he was pleased with the way Taniguchi had settled into the team and said he was hopeful of a good run from the Japanese ace on his home soil.

"Yuke has been a good addition to the team,” he said. “He showed constant improvement throughout the weekend in Monza and we look forward to seeing how he approaches Okayama.

"We have good memories of Asia; last time we raced in the region, we were fighting for the title in Macau. Japan is a very important venue for our team and we hope for a strong weekend in Okayama."
