Rob Huff gave the Chevrolet Lacetti a perfect send-off in the final World Touring Car race of the season after emerging unscathed in a chaotic race around the streets of Macau.

Having finished fifth in the first race, Huff was running a comfortable fourth with only two laps remaining when he was promoted to third heading onto the last lap following James Thompson's elimination.

However, Huff's day was about to get much better when Augusto Farfus and Gabriele Tarquini both retired just a few corners from home ahead of him. Squeezing past their stricken machines as he tried to tip-toe around the spilt oil on the circuit, Huff may have only led for a few corners, but it was enough to secure him a second win of the season.

“I am very pleased with this win, but I was also very lucky,” he admits. “In my mind I had just settled for fourth, when all of sudden everybody in front of me went off. I came through one of the corners and saw Thompson in the wall. Then shortly after I saw Gabriele (Tarquini) get airborne over a wheel Farfus had just lost.

“Fortunately I managed to get through unscathed and make it to the finish, thanks to Duncan, my race engineer, who called me on the radio to warn me for all the oil on the track.

Matching team-mate Alain Menu's win in the first race, the result marks the end of the Lacetti's involvement in the WTCC before it is replaced by the recently unveiled Cruze in 2009.

Coming a long way since it made its low profile debut in 2005, the Lacetti has managed 14 race wins and 37 podiums over the four years, while Huff's third place finish in the WTCC standings marks its best overall position to.

“This second win of the day is the perfect farewell for the Chevrolet Lacetti, which has been a fantastic car for us these past four years,” he added.
