Rob Huff moved to the head of the field with the quickest time of the day so far in the second World Touring Car Championship free practice session on the streets of Porto.

The Chevrolet man posted a lap of 2min 09.771secs at the wheel of his Cruze to make him the first driver to dip below the 2min 10secs marker. Huff was followed on the times by the BMW of Augusto Farfus and the sister Chevrolet of Alain Menu, with the Cruze again showing potential on the street circuits.

Gabriele Tarquini was fourth and led a trio of SEATs ahead of Rickard Rydell and Tiago Monteiro, while Andy Priaulx and Nicola Larini rounded out the top eight.

The session saw a number of incidents, with Jorg Muller, Jaap van Lagen, Gabriele Tarquini, Stefano D'Aste and Felix Porteiro all running off-track and the session being halted after an coming together between team-mates Alex Zanardi and Sergio Hernandez – with Zanardi going off into the barrier and Hernandez being unable to avoid his stationary car.

James Thompson continued to put more miles on the new LADA Priora but remained towards the bottom of the timesheets.
