Huff moves up with double score

Rob Huff has moved up two places in the FIA World Touring Car Championship drivers' standings after picking up a brace of points finishes from the Portuguese round of the season on the streets of Porto.

Second in the opening race and sixth in race two allowed the Chevrolet driver to climb up to fifth place in the championship and take back the position of leading Briton in the title race.

Huff qualified second on the grid for the opening race of the weekend and challenged Gabriele Tarquini for the lead before settling into second place where he remained throughout despite the best efforts of Yvan Muller and a red flag stoppage early on.

With more incidents in race two, Huff was able to keep out of trouble from seventh on the grid to take the flag in sixth place – securing eleven points from the weekend to add to his tally.

“I leave Porto having scored eleven points, which is good, and I was happy to be on the podium in race one,” he said. “It was a difficult weekend, but we worked hard as a team and we were consistently on the pace in each and every session.

“There wasn't much we could do against the SEATs; they seemed to have much more power than all the other cars. I tried to challenge Gabriele Tarquini for the lead early in race one, but he had a lot of speed and the best I could do on this occasion was finish in second position. You have to be fast and precise and keep out of the walls in Porto, and having done that I think we deserved to finish on the podium.

“With the reverse grid and the very narrow track, I just concentrated on making sure I finished in the points in race two, and that's exactly what I did.”
