Volvo confirms Brands Hatch entry

Volvo has confirmed that it will field a two-car entry into the British rounds of the World Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch.

The Swedish outfit Polestar Racing will run a brace of C30 models in the event with Robert Dahlgren joined on driving duties by regular team-mate Tommy Rustad.

Dahlgren competed in the event at Brands Hatch last season in a one-off driver while Rustad will become the first Norwegian driver to compete in the WTCC – having won on two occasions in the ETCC prior to the formation of the World Championship.

Volvo has started off this years racing season in the Swedish Touring Car Championship in great style. Its Green C30 DRIVe racer has claimed all pole positions and won several races.

"Last year was an exploratory race,” Volvo motorsport chief Derek Crabb said. “This year we are upping the stakes to give our British Volvo fans and customers a great show. I think that we will also be able to show that STCC is a championship that is on a very high level even compared to the best in the world."

The two Volvos will not be eligible for championship points having been entered under national homologation rules.
