Quartet handed grid penalties

Four drivers have been handed grid penalties ahead of the latest rounds of the World Touring Car Championship for indiscretions during qualifying at Brands Hatch.

BMW Team Germany driver Jorg Muller – who had clocked the eighth fastest time – was hand a five-position penalty as he drove his car in the fast lane before the opening of the pit lane.

Robert Dahlgren – 13th fastest in his Volvo C30 – had all his times disallowed because the team worked on his car during the parc fermé between Q1 and Q2, while SEAT's Jordi Gene will drop from 16th on the grid after the engine speed sensor on his Leon TDi was found to be disconnected.

Independent driver Kristian Poulsen will also drop from 22nd on the grid to the rear of the field due to an engine change on his Engstler-run BMW.
