Priaulx targets strong points from second

Andy Priaulx leads the BMW challenge after qualifying second for the penultimate WTCC round of the season at Okayama
Andy Priaulx has his sights set on a big score in the penultimate round of the World Touring Car Championship season after securing second on the grid for the race at Okayama.

The BMW Team UK driver was able to improve on his practice performance to fight for pole in the closing stages of the session but fell just short of knocking championship leader Gabriele Tarquini from the top of the pile.

However, the Guernseyman was still delighted with the result and said he was confident of a strong showing on race day.

“That was a very enjoyable session even though, thanks to Gabriele, I am the bridesmaid again! “ he said. “We were struggling a bit in practice but the team found a good balance in time for qualifying. Obviously from the result the SEATs are quick in qualifying, but I believe our race pace will be very good.

“If it rains on Sunday, as predicted, we will see two complicated races. I want to finish the season on a high and score maximum points tomorrow.”
