steve p.here we go again! the rules are there and this year, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 4 YEARS,bmw have not won. further, the bmw had the legs on the seats, so why on earth do you see a problem??? had a bmw driver won the championship, would you have been moaning about their dominance. and by the way, i am a bmw driver and would not buy a seat, but fair dues to them in producing a car, within the rules, and using diesel, and then winning the championship. they took a gamble and succeeded! next year it might be chevy or even lada. what will you say then?

Yes Seat produced a car within the rules and whilst I do not agree with turbo diesels being allowed they have done a good job and won the championship fairly.

The objection I have is that having built the cars within the rules they then bitched and moaned about starting procedures, which were then changed Sorry the rules were there when they buit the car, if they had a problem with that they should have built it with RWD.

Anyone who has watched this last couple of seasons races will know of the tremendous bonus that SEAT posess over the rest of the field.For next season the rules are to be amended in an attempt to equalise the field so there is clearly an issue here.SEAT complained that they were at a disadvantage to BMW on the starting grid as their front wheel drive meant they were slow to get off the line and so one of the two races is now begun with a rolling start.Richard no-one is saying SEAT have been cheating simply that the rules have been skewed in their favour rather too much.I also drive a BMW,a turbo diesel version and I know from experience the benefit over others in petrol versions.

The original plan was for 2 rolling starts, but BMW actually complained and got one standing start back. Plus, in the past BMW have a substantial advantage in terms of tyre wear, so they'd always be stronger in the second half of the race.

Instead of pondering BMW and SEAT's rivalry, Chevrolet showed they are close to SEAT's pace and they'd have come very close (if not beaten) BMW in the standings if they had more than three drivers compared to BMW's five. BMW were just out classed this year because they didn't improve the car enough, unlike SEAT and Chevrolet...

True, SEAT seem to have the edge but they've taken advantage of the rules - they weren't 'skewed' because that would suggest the rules changed after they took advantage.

It's a cynical point, but you can't blame SEAT. Diesel is a huuuuge marketing tool at the moment, particularly for a company like SEAT who are struggling to shift cars - in effect, they need to win the championship more than BMW arguably, so are probably a bit less inclined to follow the spirit of the regs.

I just think it is nice that someone other than BMW won the title this year and that the racing was still close (there were 14 races winners, so I'd say SEAT's advantage was consistency rather than speed)

tim, i asked a question which you basically answered. but the change in starts is evened up. one rolling start for fwd and one standing start for rwd. other formulae that have two races also adopt the rolling and standing start procedure, so there is not much wrong there. bmw have been as fast if not faster than the seats recently but have suffered a bit of bad luck. look at farfus's dominance at macau in practice and even in the race. bmw won last year! you go on to spoil a reasonably sensible discussion by then having your usual go at me. you really must get over your infatuation as it is becoming a bit embarrassing. i am already married!
