Good for BMW, having had all their own hard work reigned in by the forever whinging SEAT, it's about time BMW bit back. All the rule changes have been at the behest of SEAT who built an uncompetative car and whinged that BMW had built a better one then they had.

There's a reason SEAT left the BTCC, Alan Gow wouldn't bow into their quit threats if rules weren't made changed to make their cars better.

Its not as if this rule wasn't in place at the start of the season, so why protest now? Not sure if i've missed something, but smacks a little of a desperate manufacturer to me. If I remember correctly they elected not to run their diesel engine, so perhaps concentrate on raising their own game again over complaining :?

Gee it makes me laugh.BMW won for what was it 5 years in a row (Could be 4) in the ETCC and the WTCC they lose one year and all of a sudden start complaining. Just get better.

To tell the truth I really don't know why TDI's were allowed in the first place. IMO it is very obvious that they have engine advantage.

Although I don't know why BMW is complaining now and not at the end of 2007 when they were introduced.

Can't they run their own Diesel engines?

Therefore if they have an advantage this will be equal.

Two points: 1) The circuit was a joke---what were they doing there for god's sake--Rob Huff made the only clean overtake in over 40 laps of procession. The circuit made Macau look like Spa!!
2) Diesels really need to be seriously reined in---they aren't green, they sound bl**dy awful and if something isn't done soon the guys running 'real' racing cars will not bother because there is no point.
Let's hope the Le Mans organisers can get the balance right (unfortunately for us that means Peugot win)

Isn't Audi running in LMS?

as for complaining now, I suspect it's because BMW knew they wouldn't be as strong on the two fly-away races due to the altitude, but down at sea-level, there shouldn't have really been any issue...

saying that, BMW obviously need a stronger engine since the Chevrolet's seem to be able to at least keep up here...

BMW make some of the best diesel engines in the world, so I don't see why they can't float a couple of 320d's into the grid and see what happens.

I would suggest that BMW know exactly what power and torque the Seat cars should make. They have measured the acceleration and believe that the Seat's are running more than the allowed 2.5bar boost.

How can they do this?

Well I guess it depends where the boost is measured!? It might be that the engine has 2.5bar where it is measured (by the governing body), but really the engine is running a higher boost figure.

I guess they are just ensuring that Seat are conforming to the rules! After all the extra 60kgs added on the Seat had no real effect on performance compared to the 60kgs on the BMWs!

I can't see what BMW think they will achieve from this exercise for the Marrakech event- SEAT aren't going to have run "illegal" cars - it's going to come down to how this pressure is measured and the point where this reading is taken (I won't pretend to understand the technicals).
It's going to be a battle of symantics and intepretation of rules, (which is part of motorsport anyway) in which case it'll come back to the FIA who are hardly going to turn round, shoot themselves in the foot and declare the results void. At most the rules will be redrafted for future events.

Mario Thiessen screwed up big time in F1 by not going for the championship last year when they had a shot at it. This year BMW's F1 car is a dog, so MT protests Brawn, Williams & Toyota. Then, when Seat (& Chevrolet) beat them in WTCC, they protest them....
If BMW can't perform at the same level as their rivals, they should pack it in.
