BMW star Alex Zanardi - who lost both of his legs in a horrific CART accident eight years ago - is hoping to be able to compete for his country in the Paralympic Games in London 2012.

I might even venture in London in 2012 to watch Alex in the Paralympics.

You have to cheer for a guy who went through a terribly awful ordeal but never let his spirit get down or competitive nature falter and has continued to enjoy life and take on new challenges. He's a very inspirational person.

Better than Badoer? Possibly not, all things considered, but he is race-ready, Italian and hugely talented. That would have been a great coup for Ferrari. Shame he's contracted to BMW...
