I had the pleasure of watching him race a lotus in the BPR (FIA) Global endurance championship at silverstone years ago he was nothing short of spectacular almost taking a GT 2 onto the podium full of mclaren f1 sportscars.
He was only beaten on the last lap by the much faster ferrari.
And then a few months later he was racing indycars.
Any grid without alex would be a poorer place.
As he is a quality driver.

While I agree with the V8SC and BTCC... DTM has been pretty stale - I didn't watch this year partly due to the channel change etc.

I don't think the WTCC is boring, but I would say the caliber of the drivers is such that what makes the BTCC popular doesn't exist as much in the WTCC...

@MPH, I know the race you are talking about in 1996 with the Esprit, I watched it on Eurosport and wondered then why he was stuck in Sportscars! Luckily Eurosports coverage of Indycars was really good then so I could watch his win in Laguna Seca that year when he took Herta on the last lap.

I think the problem with WTCC is the tracks they use. I think we're lucky in the BTCC goes to some cracking tracks like Oulton, Brands, Donnington (hopefully), Thruxton, Croft etc. Not places like Oschersleben, they have no character.

Rodriguez 917 That was the year I was trying to remember it :-)
He had put in another good performance at donington as well but the car let him down and ground to a halt.
I agree with the eurosport coverage it was superb for the BPR global endurance series as well.
