Singaporean racer Melvin Choo is set to contest two rounds of the 2008 World Touring Car Championship after purchasing the ex-Felix Porteiro BMW 320si from the ROAL Motorsport squad.
Choo, who made his debut in the Asian Touring Car Series during 2007 at the wheel of a Division 2 Honda Integra DC5, will run the S2000 machine in the ACTS during the new season and will also enter the WTCC events in Japan and Macau.
“BMW Motorsport has a very good customer racing support, which made me decide that the BMW 320si was the best option if I wanted to be competitive,” he said. ”I wish to race in the Japanese and Macau events. It is a learning curve for me in motor racing and with the WTCC, I'll be competing in a series which has some of the best touring car drivers in the world.
”This will give me an opportunity to gauge myself and learn from the best!”
