Disappointment for Huff.

Rob Huff endured a frustrating finish to the World Touring Car Championship weekend at Brno after the Chevrolet man was excluded from a podium finish in the second race in the Czech Republic.

Huff had qualified in fourth place for the opening race of the weekend at the wheel of his Chevrolet Lacetti but contact in the early stages of race one damaged the suspension on his car and meant he slipped down the order to finish just shy of the points in ninth place.

A stellar drive in race two however saw the Briton storm through the field to finish in third place, despite his Lacetti bearing the scars of a number of on-track battles as it took the flag minus some rear bodywork.

The celebrations wouldn't last however, as he was then excluded from the race for the 'non-conformity of the front anti-roll bar link', which the RML-run team said was due to a plastic brush having been used rather than a metallic one.

"My first race was unfortunately ruined in a contact, my steering got bent and I had to concede several positions," Huff said afterwards. "The afternoon race was quite lively, as everybody could see. It's impossible to tell what happened, there was so much going on at every corner and cars all over the place!

"I had a good start, then it was hard fighting during the entire race, at some point I was hit and lost my rear bumper and four places but was able to catch back, keep the car out of trouble and finish third. Unfortunately, those good points were lost after the car was disqualified for a minor issue."

With Nicola Larini failing to score in either race with a brace of eleventh place finishes, it was left to Swiss star Alain Menu to uphold Chevrolet honours as he took a third place in the opening race and sixth in race two – although that was a result that could have been higher had he not been pushed off by Yvan Muller while running in second.

"I am happy with the podium finish in race one, I actually think it was one of my best drives this year," he said. "Despite my position on the first row, there was little I could do at the start of race one against the rear-wheel drive. In the first laps, I was very cautious not to kill my tyres and this paid off. I was able to keep the pace of the two BMWs in the front and use their stream, and keep my position.

"Race two was just crazy; the only thing I can say is that I could have opted to victory if I hadn't been pushed out in the fight."
