Golden Motors ends WTCC programme.

The Golden Motors team has revealed that it will not continue with its programme in the 2008 World Touring Car Championship.

The Russian outfit took part in the events in Valencia and Brno earlier in the season with its Honda Accord Euro Rs, with Alexander Lvov taking a best finish of fourth amongst the Independents' during the second race in Valencia.

Lvov and Andrey Smetsky had been due to return to the WTCC in the next round of the season at Oschersleben before taking part in the following events at Imola and Monza which conclude the European leg of the season.

However, having run into sponsorship issues, the team will now keep its focus on the Finnish Super Touring Championship, where Lvov currently lies third in the standings, before taking part in the annual European Touring Car Cup – which will this year be held at the Salzburgring circuit in Austria in October.
