Three more drivers are to join the World Touring Car Championship grid in Japan after confirmation that Melvin Choo, Masaki Kano and Matthew Marsh will take part in the event at Okayama.
The trio are also set to take part in the 2008 season finale, which will once again be held on the streets of Macau.
Choo will compete under the Thunder Asia banner at the wheel of a BMW 320si as he becomes the first Singaporean driver to join the championship.
He finished second in Division 2 of the Asian Touring Car Championship this season and currently leads Class B of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.
"I have been working hard to break into the world stage,” he said. “Now, having the chance to take part in the WTCC and create history by being the first Singaporean to be there is a privilege. I hope my participation will open up doors for other emerging racing talents from Singapore."
Kano meanwhile will run in a third car for the Liqui Moly Engstler team alongside Franz Engstler and Andrey Romanov. Unlike the regular pairing, he will be the wheel of an older BMW 320i E46 model as opposed to the 320si E90 now more commonly found in the series.
Marsh will join Wiechers-Sport for the final two events, with his BMW 320si sporting the colours of City of Dreams Macau, an integrated entertainment resort due to open in 2009.
"It's a dream come true to participate in the WTCC," he said. "I consider myself extremely lucky to be racing with the Wiechers-Sport team and it's very exciting to be racing for a local company, City of Dreams. I will have a lot of support - and the car looks fabulous! To represent Hong Kong in a World Championship is a great honour!"
