Italian company PANTA has been named as the official fuel supplier for the World Touring Car Championship in a deal that will cover both the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
PANTA secured the contract after the FIA put out an official tender for the deal, with the World Motor Sport Council announcing the deal.
PANTA will supply both petrol and diesel fuels that will be composed of 10 per cent second generation bio-ethanol and 90 per cent commercial fuel.
The second generation bio-ethanol is made from waste biomass, derived from recently dead biological material, such as the stalks of wheat, corn and wood and will be used to reduce the use of fossil fuels, greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, without interfering with the production of foods.
In a few days the first samples will be delivered to the teams, so that they can start testing with the new bio-fuel, which is being brought into the WTCC as part of the FIA Make Cars Green campaign.
