Colak to follow Boardman into WTCC

Marin Colak is to follow in the footsteps of Tom Boardman by graduating from the SEAT Eurocup to the World Touring Car Championship for the 2009 season.

The 24-year-old Croatian will compete in a petrol-powered SEAT Leon entered by his own Colak Racing team during the season ahead as he makes the move up from the one-make series.

Colak has past experience of the WTCC having taken part in the race weekend at Oschersleben last season following his victory in the Eurocup round at Brands Hatch.

There, running with the SUNRED team, the Croatian took a best finish of 13th overall and third in the Independents Trophy during the opening race of the weekend.

He comes into the WTCC having finished second overall in the Eurocup standings in 2008.
