Priaulx: One of the best races of my career!

24 March 2009

Andy Priaulx has described his run to second place in the latest World Touring Car Championship race in Puebla as one of the best of his coveted career.

Three-time champion Priaulx went into the weekend expecting rivals SEAT to have the upper hand, but he was able to capitalise on a strong BMW package to qualify on the front row of the grid and finish on the podium twice.

Although he was disappointed not to score his first win of the season, particularly after rallying hard in the latter stages of both races, Priaulx was thrilled to score easily his best result around a Mexican circuit that hasn't been so kind to him in the past.

"I really feel that was one of the best races of my career and in many ways feel as if I have won it,” he said. “At this track the grip of the circuit suited our car which had a great balance. However, trying to overtake was very difficult and that is the reason I was not able to get by Yvan Muller in the second race.

Priaulx's weekend tally of 14 points have lifted him up to sixth in the standings after four races.
