Huff prepared for another street fight

30 April 2009

Rob Huff is hoping to continue Chevrolet's impressive success rate around street circuits when he takes the Cruze to Morocco for the inaugural Marrakech round of the World Touring Car Championship.

The first FIA affiliated African event since the 1993 South African Grand Prix, the Marrakech street circuit is expected to provide a different challenge next to the likes of Pau and Porto, with a layout that is tipped to favour straight-line speed.

Even so, past results at 'walled circuits' have shown Chevrolet to be a strong contender, with Huff and team-mates Nicola Larini and Alain Menu taking full advantage of the Lacetti's nimble chassis.

This time, however, Huff takes the recently launched Cruze to Morocco, where he is hoping to maintain the Lacetti's enviable record.

“I am excited at the prospect of racing in a brand new track and in a country where the WTCC has never ventured into before. I am also happy to be again in a street circuit, a type of track which has always brought much success to Chevrolet.

“The two days of testing that I have done in Pembrey last week were extremely fruitful: we had an incredible amount of track time and I think we have done significant progress in trying to correct the under-steering of the car. So, I hope that just as it happened last year, this third event of the season will mark the real start of my championship.”
