Tom Boardman will make his return to the World Touring Car Championship this weekend as the series heads to France for the second street race of the campaign.
The British driver missed the last round of the year in Morocco, but will return to the grid at Pau in a newly acquired SEAT Leon – again run by the SUNRED Engineering team.
The car, as used by Darren Turner in the BTCC last season, has been fully converted from diesel to petrol specification by Special Tuning UK ahead of the French event – where Boardman will benefit from a reduction in base weight of 20 kilos thanks to the compensation weight rules.
Boardman will also debut a new colourscheme at a venue where he won in the SEAT Eurocup last season to earn a one-off WTCC driver at Estoril.
“It was difficult to watch the last race on television, so I will be glad to be back in action,” he said. “I really enjoy the street circuits and the new car felt really good when I did a couple of shakedown laps at the end of last week, so I'm hoping that we can be right on the pace in France.”
