Coronel given grid penalty

Tom Coronel will start the opening World Touring Car Championship race of the weekend in Valencia from tenth on the grid after being hit with a post-qualifying penalty in Spain.

The SUNRED Engineering driver had posted the seventh quickest time in qualifying after successfully making it through to the second stage of the session, but his SEAT Leon TFSi was then found to be underweight following technical checks.

As a result, Coronel was stripped of his times from the second part of qualifying and will drop to tenth place – which promotes Rob Huff, Rickard Rydell and Nicola Larini up the order as a result.
