Thompson ready to continue LADA work

James Thompson says he ready to embark on the new stage of development of the new LADA Priora as he prepares for his second World Touring Car Championship outing in the new car at Brands Hatch.

The Briton returned to the series last time out in Portugal as the Russian team have its new car its track debut, with Thompson again the lone LADA driver at the wheel of the Priora for his home event.

Despite a lack of testing prior to the Porto weekend, Thompson was able to bring home two finishes with the car on its debut and will hope for more of the same at Brands, where the car will benefit from a weight loss thanks to a decision taken by the FIA Touring Car Bureau.

"There's nothing like competing at home, is there?” he said. “I enjoyed my first outing with the Priora in Portugal and I hope that we can put some of the lessons we learned there to good effect at Brands Hatch.

“Our first races allowed us to identify the main areas of development needed, and now we can embark on the long process of putting all these procedures in place.

“Of course it won't be an easy task, but thanks to the commitment and dedication of the entire LADA Sport team, I am sure that we can continue to make useful progress."
