Van Lagen keen to put Porto behind him

Dutch driver Jaap van Lagen says he is keen to make up for the disappointment of Porto as he prepares for his final World Touring Car Championship event with LADA's 110 model.

van Lagen and Russian driver Kirill Ladygin will both appear in the 110 for the final time at Brands Hatch before switching to the new Priora model for the German event at Oschersleben in September.

The Porto event saw van Lagen forced to watch from the sidelines after his start-line accident with Sergio Hernandez in race one, and he said he was keen to try and impress on his final outing with the current car.

"I'm hoping to make up for that disappointment with a good performance at Brands Hatch," he said. "It's a circuit that I know and like, so I am hoping that this will work in our favour. I am sure that we will be able to use our past experience there to good effect."

Team-mate Ladygin has so far taken the best result for the LADA team in its first season as a manufacturer entry and – while admitting it won't be easy – he said he was hopeful of a solid run at Brands Hatch.

"We face a tough task, but we are growing in confidence and knowledge all the time," he said. "I think if we have a good run with no problems this could well be a circuit that suits us."
