Danish duo join WTCC grid in Germany

The World Touring Car Championship grid will be boosted by the addition of two Danish drivers for the next round of the season in Germany.

Michel Nykjaer, a double winner of the European Touring Car Cup, will drive a Chevrolet Lacetti entered by the Perfection Racing team.

It will make Nykjaer the first driver to use the Lacetti in the WTCC after the factory Chevrolet team switched over to the new Cruze model at the start of the year.

Jason Watt will join Nykjaer in making his WTCC debut at Oschersleben at the wheel of his SEAT Leon, entered by Team Bygma.

Watts, who finished second in the FIA Formula 3000 Championship back in the late 1990's, lost the use of his legs in a motorcycle accident in 1999 and will become the second driver on the grid to use hand controls to compete in the WTCC.

Works BMW driver Alex Zanardi also uses hand controls following the Champ Car accident that almost cost him his life.
