Farfus: Wins nice, but I’d rather have a title

Augusto Farfus picks up his sixth win of the WTCC season but admits, he'd swap them all for the title
Augusto Farfus brought the curtain down on his World Touring Car Championship campaign with a sixth win of the season at Macau, although the Brazilian was left disappointed at failing to secure a maiden title.

The BMW Team Germany driver was one of three men still in with a chance of the crown heading to the challenging street circuit but his title challenge came to an end in the opening race when Gabriele Tarquini secured the points needed to put him out of reach of the Brazilian.

Farfus then elected to drop down the order to secure a better grid slot for the final race of the year and he duly led from start-to-finish for his sixth win of the campaign, although he was quick to state that he would swap his wins for Tarquini's title.

“It's nice to finish the season with another win,” he said. “Six victories is good – but I would rather swap this with Gabriele Tarquini for the world title.

“Obviously we are all disappointed now as we were not able to turn things round in Macau, but we really did the best we could today. Congratulations to SEAT and Gabriele. A big thank you goes to my fellow BMW drivers and everyone else who supported me so well in the drivers' championship over the past races. It's sad that it didn't work out in the end.”
