Muller makes Chevrolet debut in Valencia

12 January 2010

Yvan Muller has begun the next stage of his career as a Chevrolet driver after taking to the track in Spain for the first time since joining the manufacturer.

After four seasons with SEAT in the World Touring Car Championship, a tenure which yielded the 2008 drivers' title, Muller switches to Chevrolet in 2010 as a replacement for the recently retired Nicola Larini.

Charged with leading Chevrolet's push for a maiden world title, Muller got his first chance to sample the Cruze during two days of testing at a chilly Circuito Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.

A return to petrol-engined machinery after two seasons piloting the controversial diesel fuelled SEAT Leon TDI, Muller was immediately impressed with the Cruze's potential.

"I am still discovering the Cruze but can already tell it is a car with an excellent basis and a good potential for further growth,” he said. “The team looks extremely professional and I am very pleased with the way we are working here in Valencia.”

Muller, a former British Touring Car Champion, won ten WTCC races with SEAT. He will race alongside Chevrolet veterans Rob Huff and Alain Menu.
