D'Aste returns to Proteam

Stefano D'Aste will drive for Proteam Motorsport in the 2010 World Touring Car Championship Independents' Trophy
Stefano D'Aste will return to Proteam Motorsport for the 2010 World Touring Car season, the second time the Italian has re-signed for the leading independent outfit.

D'Aste previously raced for Proteam in 2005, 2006 and 2008, but spent the 2007 and 2009 seasons with the German-based Wiechers-Sport outfit, the team with which he won the Independents' Trophy in '07.

The 35-year-old's return comes as Proteam – winners in 2008 with Sergio Hernandez - seek to regain the title it lost to Tom Coronel's SUNRED operation last season.

“I am very pleased with our agreement. With D'Aste back in the team we can look at the next season with a lot of expectations,” team manager Valmiro Presenzini.

Proteam ran three BMW 320si cars at times in 2009, mostly for Felix Porteiro, George Tanev and Vito Postiglione.
