Mixed emotions for Priaulx
Andy Priaulx endured a mixed start to his World Touring Car Championship campaign in Brazil after being forced out of the second race of the weekend at Curitiba.

The BMW Team RBM driver had finished fifth in the opening race of the year to pick up ten points under the revised scoring system, but was caught up in a collision off the line in race two with defending champion Gabriele Tarquini.

With a broken front-right wheel, Priaulx had no option but to return to the pits, which left him unable to add to his tally.

Priaulx now lies seventh in the standings as a result.

“Overall I'm disappointed with this outcome of the first race weekend of the season,” he said. “I had a great start in race two, but then this collision with Tarquini happened. I was just a touch, but enough to damage my car and throw me out of the race. At least I managed to score some points in race one. But I could have scored a good result in the second as well.

“The first races of the season are always educational as we find out what we can do and also what the opposition has achieved over the winter. I may not be leaving Brazil with as many points as I wanted, but I know we can fight with the others.”
