Tiago Monteiro has been confirmed as one of the international guest drivers taking part in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship's Gold Coast 600 in October, and the Portuguese ace is delighted with opportunity.

Currently racing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, erstwhile F1 driver Monteiro will exchange the wheel of his SEAT Le?n for that of a Holden Commodore VE when he joins Centaur Racing as co-driver to Tony d' Alberto. He already knows the Surfers Paradise street circuit after racing there in 2003 when he was part of the ChampCar Series, but is excited to add another discipline to those he learned in F1, and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well his various touring car outings.

"Above all, it is an honour to be invited to take part in this event as well as some of the best drivers in the world," he declared, "I am always curious to discover different championships and I always loved racing in Australia when I was in Champ Car and F1.

"I want to thank the organisers of the Australian V8 Supercar Championship as well as the owner of the Centaur team, Al d'Alberto for offering me this unique opportunity, and also to thank SEAT, who is always by my side and encourages me to take part in such an exceptional race outside of the WTCC championship. Surfers Paradise has always been a great event and I am positive that it will be a great festival again this year!"

Monteiro will share the driving duties with the younger d' Alberto as 17 international drivers join forces with 17 V8 regulars over two 300km races.
