Proteam BMW have penned a deal with Mehdi Bennani to stay together in the FIA World Touring Car Championship in 2013. have reported that the experienced Moroccan will compete in his third season with the Proteam BMW squad following a positive year in 2012, which included a podium in Hungary and nine top ten finishes en-route to tenth place overall in the championship and seventh in the Yokohama Drivers trophy.

“I'm delighted to renew my partnership with Proteam, thanks to all my partners who believe in me,” said Bennani.

He added that whilst last year was 'good', he would like to be in a position to 'fight at the top' in 2013.

Proteam BMW boss, Valmiro Presenzini added: “Despite the high level of competitiveness in the WTCC last season, Mehdi has matured a great deal and this has given us great results including the third place in Budapest. We believe that for the championship in 2013 Mehdi can fight to be in the top five.”

Bennai is the third BMW driver to be confirmed on the WTCC grid for 2013.
