Honda begin testing for WTCC 2013

Alessandro Mariano: We are pleased with the performance and feedback gathered from both drivers

The factory Honda WTCC team run by JAS Motorsport began its 2013 testing programme on Wednesday at the Circuit de Valencia using an updated 2012 Civic.

Gabrielle Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro shared the car, which was equipped with engine updates for the coming season.

According to sportmotores.com, the car ran for 175 miles without a hitch. Team boss, Alessandro Mariano commented: "We are pleased with the performance and feedback gathered from both drivers". He also added that the team was happy with the developments made since Macau.

Honda will now continue its European testing programme before the season's opening round at Monza. The team is planning to travel to Italy and Slovakia, although a proposed test in Portugal has been cancelled.
