Münnich Motorsport has completed a successful and rain-free two-day test at the Portimao circuit in Portugal.
This was the first dry run for the German squad and its SEAT Leons after a rain-interrupted test last week at Navarro in neighbouring Spain.
Speaking to the FIA WTCC website, lead driver Marc Basseng admitted that it was gooid to have got some serious track time in the car.
"We were able to complete a lot of laps in the dry," he confirmed, "I had enough time to adapt my driving to the SEAT. We worked with different set-up solutions to evaluate the best combination for the car and my style. We also managed to simulate qualification runs and races and the results were quite satisfactory.”
René Münnich, team manager also gave his thoughts adding that Portimao had provided a work-out for both car and drivers.
“The track is a real challenge for the drivers, with its combination of ultra-quick corners, hard braking and slow speed corners," he reflected, "We worked in different direction with the set-up in order to have range of possibilities for all kind of conditions. I´m still learning, but I'm quite happy with the results I achieved so far.”
The Bavarian outfit will now head back to its workshop, fine tuning areas of the cars performance before heading back out on track at a future scheduled test.
