Honda has completed a three-day test session at the Motorland Aragon Circuit in Spain as preparations continue for its assault on the 2013 World Touring Car Championship season.
Both Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro were in action through the course of the test, with former champion Tarquini driving a 2013-spec version of the Civic and Monteiro using the 2012 machine to work through a varied programme that included engine mapping work and improvements to the steering.
With no issues reported from the test, Tarquini was able to complete an impressive 204 laps over the three days, while Monteiro managed just two laps fewer – giving the team total mileage from the test of more than 2,200km.
“We are quite happy, because both cars managed to go through the whole testing programme without any technical problem, completing more than 2200 kilometres,” team boss Alessandro Mariani said. “We are satisfied with the improvements and the information we have collected during these three days.
“It was a great job from all the team – Gabriele and Tiago are now ready for a 24 hour race!”
Having debuted the Civic in the final three rounds of 2012, Honda will be entering its first full season with the car in 2013.
