Stefano D'Aste has confirmed that he will return to the World Touring Car Championship this season with his own team.
The Italian took two victories last season while with Wiechers Sport and finished seventh in the championship standings.
For the new campaign, D'Aste has elected to leave the German team to run his BMW 320 TC himself, with the PB Motorsport team set to be officially launched at the Franciacorta circuit in Italy on 9 March.
“I am happy with the decision to race with my own team,” the 37-year-old, who has only driven BMW cars in the WTCC, revealed. “We have obviously a lot to learn, which is why we prefer to run only one car this year.
“In these days I am putting the team together, hiring the staff and buying the equipment. We are incredibly motivated for this new challenge and this will help us to be ready in time for the first event, which is only three weeks away.”
D'Aste's former Wiechers Sport team revealed plans to return last week, but didn't name any drivers.
