Gabriele Tarquini and Honda have stamped their authority at this year's FIA WTCC Monza test by posting the fastest time on Friday.

Held over two days at the historic track and under sunny skies but rather cold track conditions, a total of 11 drivers from eight teams took to the track for an final extensive test opportunity before the season opener that will be held next Sunday at the same venue.

Young Spanish driver Pepe Oriola initially set the pace on Thursday with his SEAT Sport supported tuenti Racing car, but Friday was all about Gabriele Tarquini.

The 2009 champion set a lap time half a second quicker than Oriola, and less than half a second off his pole position time of 1:57.9 from 12 months earlier, when the 51 year old Italian touring car ace was racing for SUNRED Lukoil SEAT.
