Castrol secures Honda deal

Castrol named as title sponsor for Honda's 2013 World Touring Car Championship programme
Honda has announced that Castrol will take on title sponsorship of its World Touring Car Championship team for the 2013 season.

The deal, announced during the WTCC season launch in Turin, will see Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro run under the Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team banner, with the 2013 Civic featuring Castrol's green, white and red colours in its livery.

Honda has also confirmed that the Brose Group will act as a co-sponsor alongside Castrol for the year ahead.

"We are delighted to have Castrol join us as our team's title sponsor,” team principal Alessandro Mariani said. “Like Honda, Castrol has a long and proud history in the world of motorsport and their enthusiasm and passion for racing matches our own.

"I look forward to our partnership in 2013 and on achieving the success and results we are all aiming for."

Donald Smith, Castrol Global Marketing Manager, was also delighted with the announcement of the new agreement.

"With our shared values and commitment to motorsport, the Honda WTCC team is an ideal platform to promote the Castrol brand,” he said. “For us, and I'm sure for racing fans around the world too, there is also something special about the coming together of two brands with such rich and successful racing pedigrees.

“Equally, it seems so fitting that the new livery works on so many levels too – from Castrol and Honda sharing the red and white, to the combined colours reflecting the nationalities of the team and drivers.”

The 2013 Civic is an evolution of the car that was raced by Monteiro in the final three rounds of the 2012 season, with JAS Motorsport – the team running the cars – having worked alongside Honda R&D to make a raft of improvements over the winter.
