Heavy rain leads to Friday wash-out

Heavy rain sees Friday testing in Morocco washed out
Heavy rain in Marrakech has forced organisers to cancel the Friday test session due to take place ahead of the second round of the World Touring Car Championship season.

A half hour long session was due to held around the Moroccan street circuit to aid teams and drivers in their preparations for the event, only for torrential rain showers to play havoc with proceedings.

With the track flooded in sections and the paddock standing in several centimetres of water, the decision was taken to can the Friday running, which also included qualifying for the latest rounds of AutoGP.

The planned test session won't be rescheduled for Saturday, when conditions are expected to improve.

However, a revised schedule for the second day of track action will see qualifying put back by 45 minutes to 15.15 local time.
