WTCC Hungary 2013: Boardman rues more bad luck

7 May 2013

Tom Boardman admits that he is hoping for a change in his luck after running into more misfortune in the latest rounds of the World Touring Car Championship season in Hungary.

Boardman, who had run as high as twelfth in free practice, eventually qualified in a lowly 20th, but his car was deemed to have failed the minimum ride height - meaning he was dropped to the back of the grid.

Whilst Boardman's run of bad luck continued in race one after he was forced to retire following contact with fellow SEAT man Hugo Valente, he was at least able to bring home a finish in race two - battling his way to 15th spot at the finish.

The Special Tuning Racing man will now hope for more luck in Austria next time our having admitted that he needed the time in the car he was able to enjoy during the second Hungarian race.

"I really needed to get some track time in the car," he said. "Not having driven competitively in the past two events I felt I was just a little off the pace, and coupled with the run of bad luck we are on, it was important for me and the team to put in a solid performance and complete the race. Although not brilliant in terms of points, I think the last race achieved this.

"I am now looking forward to Salzburg, and I really hope we can improve our position and have just a bit of luck."
