Huff uninjured following road accident

WTCC champion Rob Huff escapes uninjured after being caught up in a four-car road accident
Reigning World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff has escaped injury following a four-car road accident near Newmarket.

The ALL-INKL.com Munnich Motorsport driver was travelling on London Road near when the accident occurred, leaving three people hospitalised with what are described as 'varying injuries' by the local media.

The incident occurred a BMW and Volkswagen travelling in the opposite direction to the 33-year-old collided as they came up behind a Peugeot that had broken down at the side of the road.

Huff was then left with nowhere to go when the two cars crossed into his side of the road following the collision, leaving all of the vehicles involved nursing extensive damage.

While Huff was able to climb from his Chevrolet Camaro himself, two other people had to be cut from their damaged vehicles by fire crews before being taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital.

“I'm really lucky to be alive, I got away with injuries to my wrists,” Huff told the Cambridge News. “The air bags on my car worked ok - I wasn't really hurt at all. My car, on the other hand, was completely written off. I'm gutted, it was the car that belonged to me when I won last year's championship. It is totally unfixable.

“I believe the accident occurred when a grey BMW came up behind the Peugeot and slowed down. They were then both hit by a red Golf. My thoughts go out to the others in the crash. I hope they're ok, there seemed to be some serious injuries.”

Huff is due to race a classic Mini during this weekend's Brands Hatch Historic Masters Festival ahead of the next round of the WTCC season in Russia.
