The form book: Moscow

Who is on form going to Moscow for the latest rounds of the 2013 World Touring Car Championship season...?

The sixth round of the 2013 FIA WTCC rolls into Moscow for the Race of Russia at the new 2.46 mile Moscow Raceway track.

This is a brand new racetrack to the touring cars, meaning a pole position and race lap records are due to be set over the course of the weekend.

Included within the Russian circuit is an 873m back straight, which should hand a top speed and slipstreaming advantage to Chevrolet and LADA, suiting both cars aerodynamic properties over rival manufacturers, SEAT, BMW and Honda.

The 'Grand Prix' FIA circuit has a mixture of fast flowing turns and Brno-esque type ''S'' bends during a 15 corner lap – it has gained a reputation for being fast and technical to drive.

*At the previous round in Austria three weeks ago, RML Chevrolet driver, Yvan Muller managed to extend his championship lead from nearest rival, Gabriele Tarquini to a whopping 80 points, driving through the field in both races after grid penalties during qualifying.

*After a near disastrous showing at Salzburg, the Castrol JAS Honda Racing team will be looking at getting Tarquini back on the top spot to at least keep the championship open, come the 'fly-away' races which begin in early August at the newly announced round in Argentina at the Rio Hondo circuit.

*The man certainly on form from the Salzburgring is Bamboo Engineering's James Nash also in a Chevrolet Cruze, who took his and the team's first victory in the series, backing up a solid second place finish from race one earlier in the day.

*Russian giants, LADA, will look to put on a strong showing at Moscow, to give their home fans something to shout about. So far it has been a very mixed season for the Granta Sport cars, but a better showing previously can give them hope of scoring good points.
