Provisional 2014 WTCC calendar published, France and Belgium join fold

WTCC sticks with 12-events; France and Belgium gain slots; Italy and Portugal dropped
The provisional 2014 World Touring Car Championship calendar was published on Wednesday following a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Paris.

The schedule will again include 12 events, although Italy and Portugal have both been dropped, to make way for rounds in France and Belgium.

Other than that the line-up of events is the same as 2013, although seven rounds are still 'subject to ASN confirmation', while the event at Spa-Francorchamps is 'subject to the signing of the agreement with the promoter'.

Meanwhile, in related news, the FIA said all WTCC races will now have a single fixed distance of 60 kilometres, with the addition of a maximum of one lap to cover it, while from 1 January 2014 certain cars will be removed from Appendix J 2010 to make them eligible for the ETCC and to allow teams to sell them for use in this Cup. The cars involved will be reclassified.
