Morocco season opener delayed

The opening round of the WTCC season has been put back at week - leading to a back-to-back between the events in Morocco and France
The opening round of the World Touring Car Championship season has been delayed by a week at the request of local authorities.

The decision means that the first event of the campaign in Morocco will now take place on April 13 on the streets of Marrkech.

The race weekend will mark the debut for the latest generation of WTCC machinery but teams now face the prospect of only a week between races with the French event at Paul Ricard scheduled for seven days later.

It races the possibility of some teams being left to race against time to prepare for the second round in the event of an accident on the tight Moroccan streets.
