Yvan Muller has topped the timesheets for the first free practice session for the World Touring Car Championship's visit to the Moscow Raceway in Russia.
The Frenchman, who is chasing down WTCC points' leader Jose Maria Lopez in the overall standings, led Honda's Gabriele Tarquini and ROAL Chevrolet's Tom Coronel, the pair just a tenth and three tenths behind respectively.
Indeed, in a year that has seen Citroen all-but-dominate in its first season of WTCC racing thus far, FP1 in Russia suggested things may prove closer this weekend with Tiago Monteiro in fourth, ahead of Sebastien Loeb and Mehdi Bennani.
Expanding to four C-Elysee saloons this weekend, newcomer Ma Qing Hua turned in the ninth quickest time, just behind team-mate and leader Lopez, while Gianni Morbidelli – the only non-Citroen driver to win a race this season – turning in the tenth best time.
Competing on home soil this weekend, LADA's three Granta's as headed up by James Thompson in 12th place.
