Jose Maria Lopez can comfortably wrap up the 2014 World Touring Car Championship title with a round in hand at Suzuka as an eighth win of the season in Shanghai moved him onto the cusp of the drivers' crown.

Already controlling the WTCC standings coming into the Chinese event, Lopez's lights-to-flag eighth win of the season in race one, followed by a third place in race two, means he has multiplied his advantage to a substantial 93 points.

With just a maximum of 110 points remaining from the remaining four races, Lopez needs to just maintain his current form to put the title out of reach for anyone else.
