Jos? Mar?a L?pez says he is delighted by 'perfect' race one victory and is looking forward to pushing on for the rest of the World Touring Car Championship in 2015.

The defending WTCC champion had a flawless start, winning from pole in race one as the Citroen Racing driver fought off a first lap attack from team-mate Yvan Muller. However, Lopez, who was racing in his home event, charged from the front and showed all his experience at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo circuit to take victory.

Starting from P10 in race two on the reversed grid line-up, the reigning champion fought through the field to get up to second but was unable to catch Sebastien Loeb, eventually settling for second place. Lopez wasn't too disappointed about failing to secure a double victory weekend at his home round and holds a five point lead over Loeb in the drivers' standings.

"I'm happy, but it was really tough out in the cars in that heat. Race one went perfectly," Lopez said. "I didn't get a great start, but I managed to hold off Yvan Muller. That gave me confidence going into the second race.

"I tried to be patient and bide my time before going after my rivals. Seb was really quick out front and I couldn't get past him. Congratulations to him on a great victory. It's been a very positive weekend for the team, and for me too, because I leave here at the top of the World Championship standings."

Lopez and the rest of the WTCC paddock now switch to Marrakesh, Morocco for round two of WTCC next month.
