Former 24 Hours of Nurburgring winner Sabine Schmitz has been announced as a wildcard entrant for ALL-INKL.COM Munnich Motorsport when the World Touring Car Championship returns to the German circuit.

The famous television personality, dubbed the 'Queen of the 'Ring', is an expert around the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife track, having grown up around the circuit and run a high-speed 'taxi' service around the circuit. The 45-year-old will contest the fourth round of the WTCC 2015 season in two races held around the 25km circuit on the 16-17 May.

The 45-year-old is set to make her WTCC debut after a year away from racing and will also drive in a WTCC test day at the track later this month.

"I am really happy that I have the opportunity to take part in the WTCC," Schmitz said. "In my eyes it is the best racing series we have. I could have entered the championship a race earlier, but sadly that didn't work with my agenda. But the WTCC Test Day on the Nordschleife on 28 April will be very important and good for my preparation."

"I will stay realistic with my goals for the races," she added. "There are some very good drivers on the grid and even if some of them don't know the Nordschleife very well, they are the best touring car drivers in the world. I love to drive on the Nordschleife when it's raining and we get plenty of rain there."

WTCC general manager Francois Riberio welcomes the German driver to the series and feels she has the potential to challenge for the race victories despite her lack of experience in the Munnich Motorsport's Chevrolet Cruze TC1 touring car.

"We are thrilled to welcome a great talent and personality like Sabine Schmitz to the WTCC family and we can't wait to watch her at the wheel of a new-generation TC1 World Touring Car," Ribeiro said. "The N?rburgring Nordschleife will be a peak event in the season, the race all our drivers want to win."
