Jaap van Lagen has been confirmed as the replacement for the outgoing James Thompson at Lada Sport Rosneft for the remainder of the year, starting at next weekend's Race of Germany in the World Touring Car Championship.

The Dutch driver has already enjoyed a test session in the Lada Sport Vesta TC1 alongside Rob Huff at the Hungaroring after rounds three and four of the 2015 WTCC season.

Van Lagen will make his Lada Sport debut at the prestigious Nurburgring, where has has previous racing experience after competing at the German circuit in the VLN.

The 38-year-old has spent the past four seasons competing in various series, including the Porsche Supercup, Blancpain Endurance Series, Porsche Carrera Cup and Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Dutchman also contested the 24 Hour Nurburgring race at Nordchleife since 2013 and finished in second place in the ADAC GT-Masters class last year.
